Partners - Notifying the ATO of Software ID
Businesses are now required to notify the ATO of the software ID used for STP reporting. While this requirement has been in place for some time, the ATO has now set a deadline for all employers to be compliant. This forms part of the ATO’s ongoing work to strengthen security, authentication, and authorisation for STP reporting. By linking STP submissions to a verified software ID, the ATO can better protect your payroll data and ensure reports are lodged by authorised providers.
If you confirm payrolls on behalf of your clients, to avoid any disruption, we recommend completing this setup as soon as possible.
To complete this setup, you will need the Software ID (SSID), which can be found by going to Details > STP Details from your Partner Dashboard in CloudPayroll.
This is a one-time notification, and once completed, no further action is required unless you change sending service providers.
Through ATO’s Access Manager (Recommended)
- Go to ATO Access Manager.
- Log in using your myGovID linked to your business’s ABN through Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM).
- Click on My hosted software services
4. Select Notify the ATO of your hosted service
5. Search for CloudPayroll on the list and select the abn link
6. Enter your Software ID – found in CloudPayroll under Details > STP Details > Software ID
7. Select Next
8. Click Save
9. In CloudPayroll, go to Details > STP Details
10. Tick Notified ATO of Software ID and Save the page
Call the ATO (if you can't use Access Manager)
You can phone the ATO’s Business line on 13 72 26 and provide the Software ID over the phone. Make sure you are an authorised representative of the business before contacting them.
