Authy App for Android

This article covers how to use Authy on your Android phone.

Install Authy App

First, you need to install this app on your device.

Select the image below to install the app:

Once the Authy app is installed on your device, you can then set up two-factor authentication.

Go to:

Scan a QR Code

Important: Time is key.

Make sure your Android device is set to use the automatic date and time from your network provider. This setting is located in Date & Time, in your phone's settings.

Once this has been confirmed, then you can add an account to Authy.

  1. On your device, open the Authy app.
  2. In Authy, select + or select the menu in the top right of the app and select Add Account.
  3. Select SCAN QR CODE.
  4. With your device, scan the QR code.
  5. Select Done.
    Authy may prompt you to share that you use 2FA on Twitter or Google+. Press X to close the prompt.
    Authy adds the account to the app. A 6-digit verification code, which is updated every 30 seconds, displays.

Note: Authy shows how many seconds are left before the code expires. If you don't have time to enter and confirm the code, as there are not many seconds left, wait until the code refreshes and use the latest code.

Note: Authy displays multiple 2FA accounts as tabs at the bottom of the app or as a list depending on whether you have grid or list set.

Note: If you have your accounts displayed in the list format, swipe up to change from an account back to the list.

Tip: Select the copy icon underneath the token expiry to copy the code.

Manually Enter a Time-Based Key

Important: Time is key.

Make sure your Android device is set to use the automatic date and time from your network provider. This setting is located in Date & Time, in your phone's settings.

Once this has been confirmed, then you can add an account to Authy.

Manually create an account if you are unable to scan the QR code.

  1. On your device, open the Authy app.
  2. In Authy, select + or select the menu in the top right of the app and select Add Account.
  3. Select ENTER KEY MANUALLY.
    Authy displays the Adding new Account page.
  4. Enter the 16-character time-based key or paste the time-based key from CloudPayroll and select OK.
    Note: The time-based key is under the QR code in CloudPayroll. In CloudPayroll, select I can't scan the QR code to display the time-based key.
  5. Select the ACCOUNT NAME field and enter your account name (for example, your CloudPayroll username).
  6. Select Done.
    Authy adds the account to the app. A 6-digit verification code, which is updated every 30 seconds, displays.

Remove an Account

  1. On your device, open the Authy app.
  2. Select the menu in the top right of the app and select Settings.
  3. Select the Accounts tab.
  4. Press and hold the account you want to remove.
  5. Select Remove.
  6. Select OK to confirm you want to delete the account.
    Authy removes the account 48 hours later.

Note: The account is not deleted for 48 hours, so you can reinstate the account by pressing and holding the account and selecting Restore.
